Curriculum & Instruction

The McIntosh County School System provides an excellent educational program for ALL students to be successful and graduate. The new Georgia Performance Standards will be the curriculum that will be implemented throughout the state of Georgia. The implementation of the standards began during the 2005-2006 school year in the English Language Arts Content area in Grades K-12. The chart below, which can also be found at http://www.georgiastandards.org/ , shows the implementation schedule for the Georgia Performance Standards.

The content areas that are included in the Instruction and Curriculum office are Language Arts (English, Reading, and Writing), Math, Science, Social Studies, Visual and Performing Arts, World Languages, Health, Physical Education, Career, Technical, & Agricultural Education (CTAE). In addition, the district's Programs for the Gifted, Advanced Placement (AP), English Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL), Special Education, Technology, Alternative Education, Title II A, Pre-K, Response to Intervention, and Professional Learning are also part of the Office of Instruction and Curriculum.
