McIntosh County Schools vision is for all students to meet and/or exceed Georgia Accountability measures, for the graduation rate to continuously improve 80% and above, and for the McIntosh County School system to be ranked in the top quartile of comparable systems within the state of Georgia. Through setting and exceeding high expectations, significantly improving literacy practices, multiple interventions, community and parent involvement and utilizing data to drive our instructional program, we aim to meet the vision. As a result of our success, we will attract high performing teachers and new business and industry, and our graduates will be prepared to continue post-secondary options, pursue gainful employment or both.

WELCOME TO THE MCINTOSH COUNTY SCHOOL SYSTEM

There will be a Public Hearing to discuss changing the name of The McIntosh County Middle School to Darien Middle School during the Regular Board Meeting on Thursday, December 15, 2011 at 5:00pm and during the next Work Session on Tuesday, January 10, 2012 at 9:00am.

This is the McIntosh County School System's second consecutive year to meet AYP

(all school's meeting AYP).

What is Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP)?
Adequate yearly progress (AYP) is a series of annual performance goals set by the state for each school district and school as well as for the state as a whole.

Out of the seventy-three school systems in the state of Georgia that met AYP last year, only thirty-four met AYP this year, plus an additional nine systems, bringing the total to only forty-three school systems in the state of Georgia meeting AYP in 2010.  We are proud to be one of those school systems!
